The position requires graduation from a CAAHEP- or ABHES-accredited Surgical Technology program and certification within 12 months of graduation; nursing qualifications and grandfathering/hard-to-fill clauses are recognized.

Qualifications

• Graduated from a CAAHEP- or ABHES-accredited Surgical Technology program and obtain certification within 12 months of graduation.
• Graduated from an accredited school of practical nursing.
• Qualify under the Grandfathering Clause with at least one year as a surgical technologist between 2010-2014.
• Qualify under the Hard-to-Fill Clause by obtaining certification within 24 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a minimum of Continuing Medical Education hours annually.
• Prepare and check instruments, equipment and supplies for procedures.
• Set up and maintain a sterile field with aseptic technique.
• Assist with patient draping and attire of the surgical team.
• Pass instruments to the surgeon during procedures.
• Perform sponge and sharp counts with the circulating nurse.
• Clean and prepare instruments for sterilization.
• Support specialty services and stock OR rooms as needed.
• Prepare sterile dressings and assist with post-operative care.
• Orient new staff and contribute to unit goals.
