Job summary

Pardee UNC Health Care in North Carolina is seeking a Surgical Technologist, Certified to assist under physician and/or RN supervision. The role focuses on preparing the OR, maintaining sterile field, and supporting the surgical team.

The position is full-time, onsite, with a weekend schedule and 72 hours per week. Entry-level candidates are welcome and NBSTSA/NCCT and BLS certifications are required.

Qualifications

• Graduate from a Surgical Technology program.
• NBSTSA or NCCT certification required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.

Responsibilities

• Prepares and stages the surgical environment and OR for procedures.
• Gathers, checks, and opens supplies and equipment needed for procedures.
• Stages sterile field with instruments, supplies, equipment, and medications/solutions.
• Assists with draping, gowning and gloving to establish sterile field.
• Performs dexterous tasks and assists during procedures under surgeon direction.
• Prepares, labels and hands off specimens.
• Cleans and prepares instruments for terminal sterilization and assists in prepping OR for next patient.
• Participates in debriefing and quality improvement.
• Precepts entry-level staff and orients new colleagues.
