Job summary

GW Hospital in Washington, DC seeks an OR Surgical Technologist to prepare the operating room, assist during procedures, and ensure proper handling of instruments throughout the surgical process. The role supports a high-volume OR with 17 surgical suites, including complex procedures such as robotics and open-heart surgery.

The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma, completion of an accredited surgical technology program, BLS certification, and CST is preferred.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalency.
• Completion of an accredited surgical technology program or degree from an accredited nursing program or equivalent.
• BLS certification required; CST preferred.

Responsibilities

• The OR Surgical Technologist prepares the operating room, assists with procedures, and ensures instrument availability.
• Set up surgical instruments, equipment, and sterile fields prior to procedures.
• Assist surgeons and RNs during procedures by passing instruments and supplies.
• Maintain sterile technique and monitor operating room conditions.
• Perform instrument counts and ensure documentation.
• Assist in turnover and restocking of surgical suites.
• Collaborate with nursing and supply chain teams to ensure readiness and safety.
