Job summary

Surgical Technologists (ST) are allied health professionals who assist in the preparation and care of surgical patients under the supervision of a nurse. The ST demonstrates sterile technique and supports the surgeon's performance of procedures in the Duke Raleigh Hospital setting.

The position offers Level I and II progression within the operating room and ambulatory environments, with a $10,000 commitment bonus for eligible candidates and relocation assistance where applicable.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology program or provides evidence of successful completion of an appropriate training program in Surgical Technology in the United States Military.
• Level I: 0–18 months of experience; Level II: 6–12 months of surgical technology or relevant military experience.
• BLS certification required for Level I and Level II.

Responsibilities

• Establishes and maintains sterile field and ensures team maintains sterile environment.
• Assists with instrument passing and sponge, needle, and instrument counts.
• Prepares operating room with instrumentation, equipment and supplies.
• Performs duties that support patient care in both OR and ambulatory settings.
• Responds to changing priorities and maintains patient safety and care standards.
