Job summary

PeaceHealth in Longview, WA is seeking a Surgical Technologist for a 1.0 FTE day shift in the Operating Room. The role involves 4 x 10 hour shifts weekly (7am–5:30pm) with rotational call in a 5 OR suite setting using a DaVinci XI for general and GYN procedures.

We offer a wage range of $41.87–$63.19 per hour, plus additional CST compensation, full benefits starting the first of the month, relocation assistance or hiring incentives, and a mission-driven, inclusive healthcare system.

Qualifications

• Completion of a Surgical Technology Training Program.
• Washington State Surgical Technologist Registration is required.
• BLS (healthcare provider) certification required.
• Preferred: 1 year of surgical technologist experience in a full-service OR.
• Preferred: Certified Surgical Technologist.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and inventory sterile sets; pass items to the surgical team.
• Maintain sterile field and asepsis during procedures.
• Assist in preparing and moving patients.
• Disinfect, sterilize, and clean instruments; assist with room turnover.
• Access patient data and preference lists as needed.
• Participate in safety initiatives and quality programs (SCIP/SCOAP).
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

PeaceHealth is seeking a Surgical Technologist for a Full-time position in the Operating Room at St. John Medical Center in Longview, Washington. Consider joining our OR Team in the following role:

• 1.0 FTE Day shift Surgical Technologist

Position Details

This position is responsible for assisting the Surgical team during operative procedures by performing a variety of technical duties to primarily assist in responsibility for the preparation and maintenance of the surgical sterile field for the operative patient.

• Arrange and inventories sterile set-up for operation and passes items as needed to the surgical team.
• Understand and apply the principles of asepsis. Establish and maintain sterile field and assure team maintains sterile environment.
• Assist in preparation and moving of patients.
• Cleans, disinfects, and sterilizes instrumentation. Assists with clean-up and room turnover.
• Access computer information as needed, such as preference lists and digital images.
• Participates in all safety initiatives. Adheres to programs such as SCIP and SCOAP quality initiatives.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Completion of a Surgical Technology Training Program
• Preferred: 1-year surgical technologist experience in a full-service Operating Room
• Required: Demonstrated knowledge of and ability to apply age specific principles of growth and development and life stages to meet each patient’s needs
• Required: Washington State Surgical Technologist Registration
• Required: Basic Life Support Certification for healthcare provider
• Preferred: Certified Surgical Technologist

Working Conditions

Lifting

• Patient handling no greater than 35 lbs. without the use of assistive equipment and/or devices (NIOSH).
• Fine motor skills to be able to grasp and control medical equipment and perform precise procedures.
• Ability to move around area with occasional sitting.
• Frequent reaching/ bending/ squatting/ kneeling/ grasping.
• Lift/Carry: Frequently up to 15 lbs. Occasionally up to 20 lbs.
• Push/Pull: Frequently up to 20 lbs. force. Occasional up to 30 lbs. force.

Environmental Conditions

• Exposure to biohazard, body fluids and airborne particles.
• Exposure to toxic or caustic chemicals.
• Time spent on site in medical/hospital setting.

Mental/Visual

• Vision and hearing required within normal limits (glasses, contacts, hearing aids permitted).
• Ability to communicate and exchange accurate information.
