Job summary

Northwest Healthcare’s Tucson Ambulatory Surgery Center is seeking a Surgical Technician to support the perioperative team in delivering high-quality patient care. The role involves preparing and maintaining sterile surgical fields, passing instruments, and ensuring instruments and supplies are used properly during procedures.

The position requires training in Surgical Technology or Practical Nursing, an associate degree in the field, and 0–2 years of OR experience.

Qualifications

• Technical School graduate of Surgical Technology or Practical Nursing program.
• Associate Degree in Surgical Technology or Applied Sciences.
• 0–2 years of operating room surgical technician experience.

Responsibilities

• Prepares and maintains the operating room for surgical cases with proper aseptic technique.
• Assists the surgical team by passing instruments and supplies accurately and efficiently.
• Handles instruments, sterilization, inspection, and assembly per instructions.
• Performs counts with the circulating nurse to ensure patient safety.
• Supports patient positioning, draping, and transfer during procedures.
• Maintains physician preference cards and ensures adequate supplies.
• Sterilizes instruments and equipment following established protocols.
• Restocks supplies and maintains readiness of ORs for subsequent cases.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
• Maintains regular and reliable attendance.
• Complies with all policies and standards.
