Job summary

Mass Eye and Ear Infirmary in Boston seeks a Surgical Technologist to join our ENT surgical team on a part‑time, on‑site basis. The role supports intraoperative care, prepares the OR, sets up sterile supplies, and assists with patient transport and instrument passing under the supervision of surgeons and nurses.

The ideal candidate has a high school diploma, BLS preferred, and 0–2 years of experience as a Surgical Technologist, with strong teamwork and attention to detail in a fast-paced

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent required.
  • BLS certification preferred; CST NBSTSA preferred.
  • 0–1 year experience required; 1–2 years preferred as Surgical Technologist.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare the operating room for surgical procedures.
  • Set up sterile supplies, instruments, and equipment.
  • Transport patients to the OR and assist with positioning.
  • Pass instruments and supplies to the surgical team.
  • Follow sterilization techniques to maintain sterility.
  • Document surgical procedures and instrument counts.
  • Collaborate with surgeons, nurses, and anesthesiologists.
  • Prepare the surgical site with drapes and solutions.
  • Secure and manage surgical drains and catheters as directed.

A Surgical Technologist is responsible for providing intraoperative care to surgical patients. There is a wide range of technology used in our surgical suites including a Robot for our head and neck cancer surgeries. We would love for you to be a part of this team! - Responsible for assisting surgeons, nurses, and other healthcare professionals in various surgical procedures and playing a crucial role in ensuring the smooth and safe operation of the operating room Essential Functions -Prepare the operating room for surgical procedures. -Set up sterile supplies, instruments, and equipment required for the surgery. -Transport patients to the operating room, help with positioning on the surgical table, and ensure their safety and comfort during the procedure. -Pass instruments, supplies, and equipment to the surgical team during procedures. -Follow proper sterilization techniques to ensure the cleanliness and sterility of surgical instruments and supplies. -Maintain accurate and complete documentation of surgical procedures, including counts of sponges, sharps, and instruments used. -Collaborate effectively with surgeons, nurses, anesthesiologists, and other members of the surgical team. -Assist in preparing the surgical site by applying sterile drapes and solutions. -Secure and manage surgical drains and catheters as directed by the surgeon.**Qualifications**Education High School Diploma or Equivalent required Can this role accept experience in lieu of a degree?
