Job summary

IR Centers in Louisville, KY, is seeking an Interventional Radiology Scrub Technologist to prepare patients and rooms, maintain a sterile environment, pass instruments, and assist with positioning for procedures.

This full-time role requires exceptional teamwork and attention to sterile technique, with duties including assisting physicians, handling equipment, HIPAA compliance, imaging, and charting. Requires surgical tech background and BLS; CST preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepares patients and procedure rooms for radiology procedures.
• Reviews orders and sets up/cleans rooms with necessary materials.
• Assists with patient prep, transfers, and positioning.
• Inputs data into the C-Arm and assists physicians while maintaining sterile technique.
• Complies with HIPAA, labels IV medications, and processes/archives images.
• Manages equipment maintenance, inventory, and waste disposal.
• May assist with Radiation Safety and accreditation surveys.
• Communicates effectively with physicians.
• Assists with billing and CPT/ICD9 coding.

Position Overview

As an Interventional Radiology Scrub Technologist you will assist in preparing patients and procedure rooms for surgeries, ensuring all necessary supplies and equipment are ready. You will maintain a sterile environment, assist physicians during procedures by passing instruments, and help with patient positioning and transfers.

Schedule and Benefits

• Monday through Friday, Day shift schedule

Qualifications

• High school diploma
• Valid BLS Certification
• Surgical technologist / Scrub Tech experience: 2 years
• CST Certification (Preferred)

Responsibilities

• Prepares patients and procedure rooms for radiology procedures
• Reviews patient orders to determine necessary materials and sets up/cleans procedure rooms
• Assists with patient prep, transfers, and positioning
• Inputs patient data into the C-Arm and assists physicians during interventional procedures, maintaining sterile technique
• Complies with HIPAA, draws up and labels IV medications, and processes/archives x-ray images
• Manages equipment maintenance, supply inventory, and hazardous waste disposal
• May serve as Radiation Safety Officer and assist with accreditation surveys
• Ensures effective communication with physicians
• Assists with patient billing, verifying procedure charges, CPT, and ICD9 codes

Skills

• Proven working experience as a surgical technologist
• Proficient in maintaining a sterile field
• Experienced in scrubbing in for surgical procedures
• Knowledge of HIPAA and other healthcare regulations
• Working knowledge of interventional equipment.

Working conditions and Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the workday.
• Ability to wear protective lead aprons of 10 lbs for approximately 60-90 minutes or longer during procedures, as needed.
• Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 50 pounds, as required for essential job duties.
• Ability to assist with patient transfers and repositioning, including patients weighing up to 400 pounds, using appropriate equipment and team assistance.
• Potential exposure to infectious diseases, bodily fluids, radiation, and other occupational hazards common to clinical environments.
• Must adhere to established infection control, radiation safety, and workplace safety protocols.
