Job summary

Corpus Christi Medical Center, part of HCA Healthcare, seeks a Lead Surgical Technologist to guide the OR team in delivering safe, advanced surgical care. You will lead sterile field setup, instrument prep, and procedural support while maintaining patient safety and accuracy in all operative steps.

You will collaborate with experienced teams, apply anatomy knowledge, and ensure proper instrument use, suturing, and procedural assistance under physician supervision.

Qualifications

• Graduate of a Surgical Technology program or military equivalent training in the Surgical Technologist role is required.
• Certification in Surgical Technology.
• Current BCLS certification from the American Heart Association required.
• 2 years of Surgical Technologist experience is Required.
• High School Graduate / GED

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates knowledge of applying surgical gloves using aseptic technique and maintaining a sterile field.
• Demonstrates knowledge of preparing for surgery by pulling the appropriate supplies and instruments for the procedure.
• Understands and recognizes the different surgical instruments and their applications.
• Displays knowledge of Anatomy and Physiology to prepare and assist in surgical procedures.
• Maintains a safe sterile field by positioning sharps correctly, labeling medications on sterile field, understanding of electrocautery and other devices that generate heat to prevent fires in the OR, and participating in a timeout with rest of the surgical team to maintain patient safety.
• Assists in setup for surgical procedure and follows protocol in counting supplies/instruments to ensure no foreign object is left inside the patient.
• Understands the principles of and can competently assist a surgeon during a procedure and has knowledge of the procedure itself.
• Differentiates sutures and their applications.
• Capable of closing a surgical site (under physician supervision) with appropriate suture.
• Demonstrates teamwork in perioperative patient care.

What you will do in this role:

What qualifications you will need:

• Graduate of a Surgical Technology program or military equivalent training in the Surgical Technologist role is required.

• Certification in Surgical Technology.

• Current BCLS certification from the American Heart Association required.

• 2 years of Surgical Technologist experience is Required.

• High School Graduate / GED
