Job summary

Portneuf Medical Center in Pocatello, ID seeks a Labor & Delivery Surgical Technologist (PRN, variable shift) to assist in the L&D area under RN supervision. Role includes preparing and disbursing surgical supplies and ensuring asepsis, with responsibility for professional development and infant security planning.

The position requires a high school diploma, surgical tech training, and BLS within 14 days of hire. OR experience is preferred; CST certification is a plus.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Graduation from an accredited Surgical Technician course or equivalent.
• BLS certification must be obtained within 14 days of hire or transfer.
• Preferred: Certified Surgical Technologist; will consider LPN with OR experience.
• One year of operating room experience.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate the ability to perform assistive duties in the L&D area under the direction of the RN.
• Responsible for the preparation, disbursement of surgical supplies, equipment, and instrumentation pre-, intra-, and post-operatively.
• Demonstrate knowledge of principles of asepsis.
• Assume responsibility for clinical competence and professional development.
• Demonstrate knowledge of the Infant Security Plan.
• Transports stable newborn via crib within the Woman’s and Children’s departments.
• Participate in the responsible management of all departmental resources.

Education

Graduation from an accredited Surgical Technician course or equivalent

BLS certification within 14 days of hire

One year operating room experience

Preferred Job Requirements:

• Certified Surgical Technologist preferred, but will consider LPN with 1-2 years of experience in a similar position.
• One year of operating room experience.
