Job summary

Portneuf Medical Center in Pocatello, ID, is hiring a variable shift, PRN Labor & Delivery Surgical Technologist. You will assist in the L&D area under RN supervision, prepare and disburse surgical supplies, and maintain asepsis throughout procedures.

The role supports newborn transport within the Women’s and Children’s units and contributes to resource management. The position requires a Surgical Technician credential, a high school diploma, and BLS within 14 days of hire.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Graduation from an accredited Surgical Technician course or equivalent.
• BLS certification within 14 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the L&D area under the direction of the RN.
• Prepare and disburse surgical supplies, equipment, and instrumentation pre-, intra-, and post-operatively.
• Demonstrate knowledge of asepsis principles.
• Maintain clinical competence and pursue professional development.
• Understand the Infant Security Plan.
• Transport stable newborn via crib within Women’s and Children’s departments.
• Participate in responsible management of departmental resources.

• Demonstrate the ability to perform assistive duties in the L&D area under the direction of the RN
• Responsible for the preparation, disbursement of surgical supplies, equipment, and instrumentation pre-, intra-, and post-operatively
• Demonstrate knowledge of principles of asepsis
• Assume responsibility for clinical competence and professional development
• Demonstrate knowledge of the Infant Security Plan
• Transports stable newborn via crib within the Woman's and Children's departments
• Participate in the responsible management of all departmental resources

Qualifications

Job Requirements:

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Graduation from an accredited Surgical Technician course or equivalent.
• BLS certification must be obtained within 14 days of hire or transfer into the role and prior to providing direct patient care.

Preferred Job Requirements

• Certified Surgical Technologist preferred, but will consider LPN with 1-2 years of experience in a similar position.
• One year of operating room experience.
