AdventHealth Tampa, a faith-based not-for-profit 626-bed tertiary-level acute care hospital, specializes in advanced cardiovascular medicine, neuroscience and neurology, digestive health, orthopedics, women’s services, pediatrics, oncology, endocrinology, bariatrics, wound healing, sleep medicine, and general surgery, including minimally invasive and robot-assisted procedures. It hosts GME programs in general surgery, obstetrics and gynecology, internal medicine, and transitional year. The hospital is home to the AdventHealth Pepin Heart Institute and the Kiran C. Patel Research Institute, leading in cardiovascular disease prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and research.

The Role You’ll Contribute

The Surgical Technologist III performs technical support tasks in the perioperative setting under RN supervision, adhering to clinical standards of care.

  • Checks supplies and equipment needed for surgical procedures
  • Prepares sterile field with instruments, supplies, and medications/solutions
  • Performs appropriate counts with circulator prior to incision closure
  • Gowns and gloves surgeon and assistants
  • Helps in draping sterile field
  • Passes instruments to surgeon during procedures
  • Maintains sterile technique during procedures
  • Prepares sterile dressings
Qualifications

The expertise and experience needed:

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Successful completion of an accredited Surgical Technology Course
  • Ability to precept and serve as a resource in multiple surgical specialties
  • Minimum of six years of experience as a CST
  • Specialist in at least three major surgical specialties (e.g., Orthopedics, Robotics, Neurosurgery/Spine)
  • Current CST/Certified Surgical Assistant certification
  • AHA BLS certification
