Job summary

Tampa General Hospital is seeking a Pool Certified Surgical Technologist 2 for the TGH Surgery Center at Morsani. This role supports the surgical team, maintaining sterile technique and equipment readiness for a range of procedures.

Candidates should have CST or TS-C credentials, plus 1 year of surgical experience. As a Pool technologist, you will assist with gowning, draping, instrument setup, and specimen handling, ensuring patient safety and efficient OR flow.

Qualifications

• One year of surgical experience.
• Demonstrates technical and procedural competence in at least three surgical specialties.
• Proficient in aseptic techniques and sterile field maintenance.
• Strong critical-thinking and decision-making in the operating room.

Responsibilities

• Gather, check, and open supplies and equipment needed for procedure.
• Set up sterile instruments, supplies, and medications/solutions.
• Assist team members with gowning, gloving, and draping the patient.
• Establish the sterile field and secure tubing, cords, and accessories.
• Participate in surgical site and patient verification during the time-out procedure.
• Prepare and anticipate additional instruments, equipment, and supplies.
• Maintain sterile technique and perform necessary counts.
• Safe management and handling of specimen.
• Maintaining clean instruments for sterilization.
• Assist in room cleaning and preparation for next patient.
• Assist in patient positioning transfers.
• Additional duties as assigned.
