Job summary

Health First is seeking a Surgical Technician to support operating room activities, preparing sterile fields, handling instruments, and assisting the surgical team. The role requires completing Health First's On-The-Job Training and/or graduation from a Surgical Technologist program, plus a BLS card prior to start date.

Responsibilities include maintaining sterile technique, assisting with patient care plans, and ensuring readiness of equipment and supplies for procedures.

Qualifications

• Completion of Health First's On-The-Job Training Program for Surgical Technician.
• OR graduate of a program for Surgical Technologist (Military, Community College, or School for Surgical Technology).
• One year of work experience as a surgical tech or surgical assistant.
• American Heart Association BLS Healthcare Provider Completion Card prior to start date and maintain.
• Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
• Reli able transportation with ability to respond within 30 minutes when on call.
• Ability to work autonomously while consulting chain of command.

Responsibilities

• Performs a variety of duties in an operating room observing proper techniques to include preparing rooms with instruments, sutures, supplies, and equipment; open sterile supplies and arrange sterile setups for operations.
• Creates, maintains, and terminates sterile field for surgical procedures.
• Properly handles and cares for all instruments and equipment; checks materials and reports faulty equipment.
• Assists with precepting new technical personnel.
• Attends in-services and mandatory meetings.
• Cooperates with the nurse in the individualized plan of care for each patient.
• Anticipates needs of the surgeon and surgical assistants, passing instruments, sutures, sponges, and supplies.
• Demonstrates ability to perform all duties required of a Surgical Technologist.
