UF Health Durbin Park Hospital in St. Johns, Florida is seeking a Surgical Tech II to join our operating room team.

This full-time, 1.0 FTE position involves providing basic instrumentation and sterile technique for procedures, and helping care for and maintain perioperative equipment. The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma or GED with graduation from surgical technologist program, NBSTSA/NCCT/AST certification within 1 year of hire, and BLS certification.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

Assist the surgeon(s) by providing basic instrumentation and sterile techniques for procedures performed in the Operating Room and provide patient care in the clinical setting. The Surgical Tech II is also responsible for the care, handling and maintenance of basic surgical equipment and instrumentation.

Qualifications

Education

Required: High School Diploma or GED AND graduate of surgical technologist program.

Licensure

Required: Certification from NBSTSA, NCCT, or AST within 1 year of date of hire/transfer.

Certification

Required: BLS from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.

Necessary Skills

• Strong working knowledge of patient care and basic human needs throughout the life span.
• In depth knowledge of medical terminology.
• Strong working knowledge of acute and chronic disease processes.
• Knowledge of computer programs used in perioperative services.
