UF Health Jacksonville Hospital seeks a Surgical Tech II to assist surgeons with instrumentation and sterile technique in the Operating Room. You will support patient care and maintain surgical instruments according to AAMI and hospital policies.

The role requires graduation from a surgical technologist program and NBSTSA/NCCT/AST certification within 1 year of hire, plus BLS. Strong teamwork and adaptability are essential in a fast-paced perioperative setting.

Responsibilities

In this role the Surgical Technologist responsibilities are to assist the surgeon(s) by providing basic instrumentation and sterile techniques for procedures performed in the Operating Room and provide patient care in the clinical setting. The Surgical Tech II is also responsible for the care, handling and maintenance of basic surgical equipment and instrumentation.

FTE: 1.0

Hours: 6:45am-3:15pm

Days: Monday-Friday

Location: Jacksonville, FL

Qualifications

Required Education

Required: GED or High School Diploma AND Graduate of surgical technologist program

Licensure/Certification

Required:

• Certification from NBSTSA, NCCT, or AST within 1 year of date of hire/transfer.
• BLS from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross

Experience

Required: Less than 1 year of surgical technologist experience

Necessary Skills

• Strong working knowledge of patient care and basic human needs throughout the life span; Strong working knowledge of anatomic structure and human body system; Strong working knowledge of acute and chronic disease processes.
• In depth knowledge of medical terminology.
• Must have excellent verbal and written English communication skills, including but not limited to presentation skills and report writing.
• Must have expert knowledge, use and demonstration of standard precautions; Expert knowledge, use and experience with aseptic and sterile technique. Must have experience training and precepting staff in Cardio-Thoracic surgery
• Must have organization and time management skills including but not limited to organizing, planning and prioritizing work.
