Job summary

St. Joseph Mercy Oakland is seeking a Surgical Technologist to join our OR team on a rotating shift. The role supports the RN and circulator, maintains aseptic technique, and assists with complex procedures in the operating room.

The ideal candidate has an accredited Surgical Technology program and a minimum of 2 years of experience, plus current BLS certification. Candidates may be anticipated to handle diverse cases and ensure patient safety.

Qualifications

• Associates degree in Surgical Technology or approved program.
• Minimum 2 years OR tech experience.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Surgical technologist certification preferred (depending on hire date).

Responsibilities

• Maintains asepsis and sterile technique to provide optimum patient care.
• Assists in setting up OR with supplies, instruments and equipment.
• Positions patients pre-, intra-, and post-operatively.
• Maintains accurate counts of sponges, needles and instruments.
• Scrubs on multiple procedures and supports team as directed.
