A leading healthcare provider is seeking a Surgical Technologist to join their surgical team. This role includes responsibilities such as assisting in surgeries, ensuring sterile environments, and collaborating effectively within a healthcare team. Candidates should have an Associate Degree in Surgical Technology and relevant certifications. This position offers opportunities for professional growth in a dynamic surgical setting.
Functions as a team member under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. Utilizes the Association of Perioperative Registered Nurses (AORN) Perioperative Standards, Association of Surgical Technologists Recommended Standards of Practice, and perioperative policies and procedures to care for patients during surgical interventions. Consistently scrubs in complex cases independently. Supports Trinity Health Core Values and division beliefs during interactions with patients, visitors, and colleagues.
A. Education
Associates hired prior to 9/1/13: Graduate of an approved Surgical Technologist program or equivalent work experience. An Associate Degree in Surgical Technology is preferred.
Associates hired after 9/1/13: Minimum of an Associate Degree in Surgical Technology or current Certified Surgical Technologist from the AST.
B. Licensure / Certification
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. Associates hired prior to 9/1/13: AST Certification preferred. Associates hired/transferred after 9/1/13: AST Certification preferred.
C. Special Skills / Aptitudes
Successful completion of department orientation/competency review for complex cases, demonstrating effective interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate within a team. Ability to work independently after orientation. Excellent customer service skills for dealing with hospital personnel, outside customers, and community groups.
D. Experience
Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Surgical Technologist, demonstrating skill development in assisting surgeons and organizing work efficiently.
Frequent lifting up to 51 pounds; no lifting of items over 35 pounds from the floor. Work in surgical environments with potential exposure to communicable diseases and hazardous substances. May require working weekends, holidays, and rotating shifts.
