Job summary

Hackensack Meridian Health is seeking a Surgical Technologist to support the operating room team in New Jersey. Duties include providing sterile instruments and supplies to surgeons under RN direction and maintaining sterile technique throughout procedures.

The ideal candidate will have NJ compliance, BLS, and either a graduate of an accredited Surgical Tech program with certification or significant OR scrub experience. Strong multitasking and teamwork are required.

Qualifications

• Must have a High School Diploma or GED Equivalent.
• Meet NJ requirements under the Surgical Technologist law.
• BLS is required.
• 6 months OR experience strongly preferred.
• Graduate of an accredited Surgical Tech Program and a Certified Surgical Tech.
• Ideal candidate will possess minimum 1 year surgical scrub experience.
• National certification is preferred.
• Must be a self-starter who works well independently.
• Time management and prioritizing skills a must.
• Ability to multi task.

Responsibilities

• Performs assigned duties under the direction of the Registered Professional Nurse within the OR.
• Maintains sterile field and supplies for surgeons throughout surgery.
• Communicates pertinent patient information to the RN.
• Adapts to schedule changes and accepts OT or float as needed.
• Maintains patient safety and quality during crisis situations.
• Participates in unit/department quality improvement activities.
• Adheres to organizational competencies and standards of behavior.
• Other duties and/or projects as assigned.
