Job summary

KAISER in Honolulu, Hawaii, is seeking a Surgical Technologist I under direct supervision to support complex surgical cases. You will prepare instruments, assist in sterile prep, and maintain supplies and aseptic technique for the operating room.

The role requires at least two years of experience as a Surgical Technologist, completion of an accredited program, BLS, and strong knowledge of terminology and teamwork.

Qualifications

• Minimum two (2) years as Surgical Technologist with competency across listed surgical cases.
• Completion of an accredited Surgical Technology training program.
• Basic Life Support from American Heart Association.
• Knowledge of medical terminology.
• Strong adaptability, problem solving, teamwork and communication.
• Reading, writing, speaking English.
• Ability to train others and follow procedures.
• Experience scrubbing in an acute hospital setting.

Responsibilities

• Scrub for complex surgical procedures and prepare OR.
• Assemble packs, supplies and instruments; ensure sterility and expiration dates.
• Inventory and monitor instruments, sponges and needles; assist with blood loss monitoring.
• Assist in draping, passing instruments, retractors, sutures; apply dressings.
• Identify and report emergencies; adjust priorities with surgeon.
• Assist with specimen labeling and disposal; maintain counts with RN.
• Provide training to Surgical Tech IIs and IIIs; serve as a resource.
• Maintain instrument and supply levels; support aseptic technique throughout.
