Eligible candidates are Certified Surgical Technologists. New graduates and previous MMC and MaineHealth employees with more than 3 months of separation are eligible. Current MMC and MaineHealth employees are not eligible.

Summary

This is a Monday-Friday day shift position (4-10 hour shifts with 1 flexible day off). Closed Major Holidays. No weekends and no on-call requirement past 2300.

The Scarborough Surgery Center provides care to patients of all ages, requiring procedures such as but not limited to total joint replacement, robotics, neuro, ENT, ortho, GYN/GU. The center is designed around patient comfort, including surgeries that may require an overnight stay. This freestanding, 59,000-SF outpatient surgical center includes:

• 10 operating rooms
• 31 pre- and post-op rooms

The Surgical Technologist I - MMCP role involves preparing the operating room, instruments, equipment, supplies, and passing instruments, sponges, and sutures to surgeons.

Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities (KSAs)

• Education: Graduate of an accredited School of Surgical Technology required.
• License/Certifications: Certification by the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting required within six months of start date or at leadership's discretion. Certification preferred at SMHC. Current BLS certification required or must obtain within 30 days of start date.
• Experience: Experience as a Surgical Technologist or at least six months in a scrub role preferred.
• Additional Skills/Requirements: N/A
