Job summary

Qualifications

• One (1) year of operating room or military equivalent experience in scrub role within the last two years or recent completion of operating room training program.
• Per the National Agreement, current KP Coalition employees have this experience requirement waived.

Responsibilities

• Assists during surgery as a member of the surgical team. Passes instruments and supplies as directed. Scrubs and conforms to sterile technique for each procedure.
• Assists in draping the patient and positioning.
• Provide proper tissue retraction and assist with hemostasis using a Bovie as directed.
• Assist with sponging, suctioning, and counts of sponges and instruments.
• Prepare sutures for closure and apply surgical dressings as directed.
• Recognize and respond to emergency situations per procedures.
• Handle video camera setup and prepare sterile setup for surgeon.
• Ensure documentation, prep supplies, and clean up procedures are followed.
• Adhere to sterilization, disinfection, and aseptic techniques.
