Job summary

Children's Wisconsin is seeking a Surgical Tech to support the operating room team. You will prepare patients and rooms, pass instruments, hold retractors, and anticipate needs during procedures.

Role includes orientation of new scrubbing staff, rotating shifts, and schedule flexibility. Eligible for a sign-on bonus up to $10,000.

Qualifications

• Interpersonal and communication skills necessary to interact effectively with interdisciplinary health team members and consumers.
• Ability to stand for long periods of time for up to 85% of work time, and lift and move large pieces of equipment weighing up to 60 pounds.
• CPR certification – Basic Life Support (BLS) required.

Prepares for surgical procedures and assists surgeons by passing instruments and supplies, holding retractor and anticipating needs during surgical procedures. Assists with orientation of new personnel to the scrubbing role.

Qualifications

• Completion of a Surgical Tech Associates degree program.
• Ability to rotate shifts and/or work flexible hours to meet patient care needs.
• Current CPR certification – Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers through American Heart or American Red Cross is required.
• Interpersonal and communication skills necessary to interact effectively with interdisciplinary health team members and consumers.
• Ability to stand for long periods of time for up to 85% of work time, and lift and move large pieces of equipment weighing up to 60 pounds.
• The ability to represent the organization and serve consumers in a professional manner and promote a positive image of the organization and its services.

Hours & Call Requirements

This position requires an every‑other‑weekend rotation. The job consists of (4) 10‑hour shifts from 6:50 a.m. to 5:20 p.m., with rotating off day. Orientation lasts approximately 6 months and is Monday‑through‑Friday from 6:50 a.m. to 3:20 p.m., with off‑shift rotation. The role also includes weekday, weekend, and holiday call requirements (must report to the hospital within 30 minutes).
