Job summary

Allegheny Health Network is seeking a Surgical Technologist to support the operating room team across pre-, intra-, and post-operative phases. You will set up the sterile field, pass instruments, and ensure accurate counts to prevent surgical events.

The role requires adherence to aseptic practices, preparation of patients, and collaboration with surgeons to align with preferences and care variables. CPR and CST/TS-C certification timelines are specified.

Qualifications

• One year certificate from a college or technical school; or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 1-3 years of Surgical Technologist experience.

Responsibilities

• Assists in setting up the surgical operating suite with appropriate instruments and supplies.
• Utilizes proper aseptic techniques and practices standard precautions. Follows policy for medication and specimen handling.

GENERAL OVERVIEW:

This job performs direct and indirect technical tasks for patients before, during, and after surgical interventions.

Minimum

• 1-3 years of Surgical Technologist experience.

Additional Employment Requirements:

• Surgical Technologist (ST) hired after 12/29/2020 require one of the following:
  • Education and Certification: Accredited Surgical Technologist program completion and nationally recognized certification (CST, TS-C) within 6 months of hire. Military programs accepted.
  • Pre-existing Employment: Employment as a surgical technologist by this facility before 12/29/2020, or at another facility within the two years prior to 12/29/2020.
• CPR – American Heart Association within 60 days of hire.
