Job summary

Qualifications

• Graduate of a Surgical Technologist Program, LPN, or on-the-job training.
• Oxygen Certification required within 6 months of hiring; update every 2 years.
• BLS required; Certification in Surgical Technology if eligible.
• Special Procedures: SGNA Associates Program within 6 months of date of hire.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates knowledge of anatomy, physiology, surgical procedures, cleaning, sterilization techniques, universal precautions, and aseptic techniques.
• Prepares instruments, supplies, endoscopes and equipment for surgical and invasive procedures; handles high-level disinfection or terminal sterilization.
• Maintains sterile technique during procedures and anticipates surgeon needs.
• Participates in ongoing education and training to support professional development.
• Ensures supplies and equipment for invasive procedures are present and sterile for use.
• Performs counts with the circulator per policy; assists in room setup and turnover.
• Prepares specimens and labels medications/solutions for surgery.
• Participates in Universal Protocol for patient safety.
