Job summary

Cape Fear Valley Medical Center in Fayetteville, NC seeks a Surgical Technologist to serve as the scrub technologist in the operating room. This role supports the patient care plan under RN direction, maintaining sterility and readiness of instruments and supplies for operative cases.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent required.
• Completion of Surgical Technologist Course from an Accredited CAHEA Program preferred.
• 1 year experience as a surgical technologist preferred.
• Works with complex monitoring and life-saving equipment.
• Reads, writes, and speaks English.
• Knowledge of Standard Precautions.

• Knows and follows aseptic techniques when performing scrub duties and support duties for the department.
• Performs scrub duties as assigned in service areas.
• Assists in carrying out the patient's plan of care by performing tasks within scope of practice.
• Access to medication/supply room to retrieve patient care items.
• Transports and/or escorts patients to various areas.
• Assists with maintenance, selection and preparation of instruments, equipment and supplies for operative cases.
• Fosters guest relations within the team and with patients and families.
• Maintains confidentiality of all patient information.
• Supports patients in their cultural and spiritual beliefs within care plan limits.

The Surgical Technologist (ST) is responsible for the provision of patient care to meet identified patient outcomes, and to achieve the goals of the facility as direct by the Registered Nurse. The ST performs duties according to scope of practice designated by the facility position description, role and responsibilities and according to the surgical technician professional organization.
