Responsibilities

• Assist as the surgeon's second assistant when appropriate and qualified.
• Maintain sterile fields throughout procedures.
• Sterilize instruments and equipment per protocols.
• Monitor inventory and supply levels; support cost containment.

This role is responsible for preparing operating rooms, maintaining sterile fields, anticipating surgeons' needs, handling surgical instrumentation, and supporting patient safety throughout the operative process. The Surgical Technologist may also assist with sterilization, inventory management, and serve as a surgical assistant as appropriate.
