Qualifications

• Must have completed an accredited program and maintains certification
• OR has completed appropriate military training program
• OR maintains certification from an accredited program
• Grandfathering rules apply for certain staff employed before 12/27/2020

Responsibilities

• Prepare the operating room by setting up surgical instruments and equipment, sterile drapes, and sterile solutions
• Pass instruments to surgeons and assistants during surgery
• Assist in gowning, gloving, and sterile technique
• Count sponges, needles, and instruments
• Assist with specimen handling and disposal for laboratory analysis
• Transport patients to recovery and help position them for the procedure
