GREAT OPPORTUNITY!

The Surg Tech Extern will commit to a PRN schedule working 2 shifts every 6 weeks. Hours vary and may include day and night shifts, weekends, and holidays during the Externship.

• Orientation on Day 1 (6/16/2025) is mandatory
• Valid BLS/CPR certification through the externship
• Enrollment in an accredited Surg Tech program and completion of the first two semesters, starting their 3rd semester or beyond.

Role Purpose

Assists mentors with surgical duties for operating room procedures under the supervision of a registered nurse and/or surgical technologist.

Responsibilities

• Assists in preparing the operating room for surgery, reviews surgeon’s preference cards, obtains necessary supplies and equipment, ensures cleanliness, and assists with opening sterile supplies under supervision.
• Assists with surgical scrub duties and manages cultures and specimens under supervision.
• Participates in educational activities related to the extern program, including unit-specific training.
• This is a safety-sensitive position; the ability to work alertly and safely is essential.

Minimum Requirements

Education

• Enrolled in an accredited SurgTech Program
• High School Diploma or GED

Experience

• No prior experience required

Supervisor Experience

• No experience required

Preferred Requirements

• Associate's Degree
