Job summary

The University of Kansas Health System is seeking a Surgical Technologist for Liberty Hospital. The successful candidate will prepare the operating room, maintain sterile techniques, and assist the surgical team throughout procedures.

Day shifts with no weekends, holidays, or on-call requirements. Responsibilities include instrument handling, passing supplies, ensuring patient safety, and contributing to a safe, efficient operative environment.

Qualifications

• High School Graduate or equivalent.
• Certificate or Associate’s Surgical Tech degree OR 3 years of experience as a Surgical Technologist in lieu of the certificate or degree requirement.
• Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Respirator Fit Test required by KU Health System on Hire.

Responsibilities

• Prepares the operating room for surgical procedures and ensures equipment is functioning safely.
• Assists surgeons by passing instruments and supplies and maintaining sterile field.
• Maintains sterility and safety, monitors for breaks in the sterile field, and supports patient care.
• Performs counts of instruments, sponges, needles, and supplies with a circulating RN.
