Mass General Brigham Healthcare Center in Danvers seeks a qualified Surgical Tech for a per diem role. The incumbent supports the operating room, ensuring sterile preparation and assisting peri-operative care in a fast-paced environment.

You will work closely with surgeons and nurses, maintain sterile technique, and help ensure safe, efficient procedures for a patient population spanning neonates to seniors.

Formación

• High School Diploma or Equivalent required.
• 2–3 years as a surgical technologist in an acute care setting.
• CSFA or CST preferred; NBSTSA credentials encouraged.
• Familiarity with SPD sterile room and sterile processing procedures.

Responsabilidades

• Prepare the operating room for surgical procedures.
• Set up sterile supplies, instruments, and equipment for surgery.
• Transport patients and assist with positioning on the table.
• Pass instruments and supplies to the surgical team during procedures.
• Maintain sterility and proper sterilization of instruments.
• Document surgical counts and procedure details accurately.
• Collaborate with surgeons, nurses, and anesthesiologists.
• Assist in preparing the surgical site with drapes and solutions.
• Manage drains and catheters as directed by the surgeon.

Job Summary

Mass General Brigham Healthcare Center in Danvers is a collaboration between Massachusetts General Hospital and Salem Hospital. Our state-of-the-art facility provides exceptional medical and surgical services for the whole family.

We are looking for a qualified surgical tech to fill a per diem role at Mass General Brigham- Danvers Location

• The Surgical Tech at Mass General Brigham Danvers location plays an important role in the operating room and is responsible for the preparation and maintenance of the operating room environment, as well assists with the peri-operative care of patients.
• They work closely with surgeons and nurses to ensure the smooth and efficient function of the operating room. A Surgical Tech must have a strong understanding of sterile techniques and be able to work quickly and accurately in a fast-paced environment.

• Our patient population spans the range from neonates to seniors
• Responsible for assisting surgeons, nurses, and other healthcare professionals in various surgical procedures and playing a crucial role in ensuring the smooth and safe operation of the operating room

Essential Functions

• Prepare the operating room for surgical procedures.
• Set up sterile supplies, instruments, and equipment required for the surgery.
• Transport patients to the operating room, help with positioning on the surgical table, and ensure their safety and comfort during the procedure.
• Pass instruments, supplies, and equipment to the surgical team during procedures.
• Follow proper sterilization techniques to ensure the cleanliness and sterility of surgical instruments and supplies.
• Maintain accurate and complete documentation of surgical procedures, including counts of sponges, sharps, and instruments used.
• Collaborate effectively with surgeons, nurses, anesthesiologists, and other members of the surgical team.
• Assist in preparing the surgical site by applying sterile drapes and solutions.
• Secure and manage surgical drains and catheters as directed by the surgeon.

Qualifications

• Education
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent required
  • Can this role accept experience in lieu of a degree? No
• Licenses and Credentials
  • Certified Surgical First Assistant [CSFA (NBSTSA)] - National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) preferred
  • Certified Surgical Technologist [CST] - National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) preferred
  • Medical Technician [New Hampshire License] - New Hampshire Board of Medical Imaging and Radio-therapy preferred
• Experience
  • Experience as a surgical technologist in an acute care setting 2-3 years required
  • Four (4) years experience as a surgical technologist in an acute care setting; committee and leadership experience 3-5 years preferred
• Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Knowledge of SPD Sterile Room.
  • Ability to multitask, can work in a fast-paced clinical environment.
  • Advanced knowledge of sterile processing procedures and policies.
  • Familiarity with medical terminology and departmental supply items is required.
