Overview
We are seeking a Surgical Technologist to serve as a lead in preparing operating rooms for surgery, providing technical services, assisting during complex surgeries, and maintaining documentation to ensure compliance with operating room and Parkland requirements.
Primary Responsibilities
- Assist the surgical team during routine and complex procedures by functioning in a scrub role, ensuring activities meet team needs.
- Set up and prepare rooms with appropriate instruments, sutures, supplies, and equipment; clean rooms or equipment as necessary, practicing aseptic technique.
- Serve as a resource for Surgical Technologist I & II, answering questions and assisting with complex situations.
- Communicate patient data accurately to ensure safe patient care.
- Participate in multidisciplinary planning and assist the Nurse Coordinator with service-specific needs.
- Maintain positive relationships with patients, hospital staff, physicians, visitors, interns, and students to ensure comfort and safety.
- Identify process improvements and implement recommendations to enhance department goals and patient satisfaction.
- Provide training and orientation to new employees and students as required.
- Stay updated on developments in Surgical Technology through training, seminars, and professional reading, integrating knowledge into practice.
Qualifications
- Completed an accredited surgical technology program and hold current certification through recognized boards or military training.
- Current healthcare provider CPR certification from AHA, Red Cross, or Military Training Network.
- Ability to demonstrate knowledge of surgical equipment, instruments, aseptic techniques, and effective communication skills.
- Flexibility to work shifts and adapt to changing schedules.
