Job summary

Inova Loudoun Hospital is seeking a Surgical Technologist 1 for a full-time day shift (7:00 AM–3:00 PM) in Leesburg, VA. The role supports the operating room team by preparing the sterile field, assisting with procedures, and ensuring equipment readiness.

The ideal candidate is a Registered Surgical Technologist with BLS certification. This position includes comprehensive benefits and opportunities within Inova Health.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED.
• Registered Surgical Technologist upon start.
• BLS certification upon start.

Responsibilities

• Assists the circulating nurse in implementing the perioperative plan of care, including patient positioning, site preparation, and room turnover.
• Provides scrub assistance during procedures with awareness of anatomy and required principles, supplies, and knowledge base.
• Prepares the operating room by opening sterile supplies, instruments, and sutures based on scheduled procedures and surgeon preference card.
• Assists with pulling cases, checks case carts for completeness, obtains supplies and equipment, and ensures they are in good working order before a case begins.
• Maintains instrument care and reports any broken items per protocol.

Surgical Technologist 1 Job Responsibilities:

• Assists the circulating nurse in implementing the perioperative plan of care to include patient positioning, confirmation/preparation of the operative site, updating physician preference card, care of operative specimens, and room turnover.
• Performs and/or provides scrub assistance during procedures that reflect an awareness of anatomy, necessary principles, skills, supplies, and adequate knowledge base
• Identifies factors relative to the patient's age and developmental stage that must be considered during the surgical procedure.
• Assists with pulling cases and checks case carts for completeness, obtains supplies and equipment, and determines them to be in good working order before a case begins
• Prepares the operating room by opening sterile supplies, instruments, and sutures based on the scheduled procedure and surgeon preference card.
• Exercises care in the operation and use of instruments/equipment/ and reports/follow the appropriate procedure for broken items.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Education: High School or GED
• Experience: None required
• Licensure: Registered Surgical Technologist - Upon Start; Registered in the Commonwealth of Virginia as a Surgical Technologist at time of hire
• Certification: Basic Life Support (BLS) upon start.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience: Level one (1) trauma experience.
