Job Title: Surgical Technologist

Summary

Under the Perioperative leader, assumes responsibility and accountability for assuring quality care as a healthcare team member within the Perioperative environment. The scope includes anticipating, planning for, and responding to the needs of patients, surgeons, and other team members. Maintains confidentiality regarding patients, families, coworkers, and physicians.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Graduate of a Surgical Technologist program or evidence of employment as a Surgical Technologist prior to July 1, 2009.
• Current certified surgical technologist certification, or obtain certification within 12 months of completing a surgical technology degree, or evidence of employment as a certified surgical technologist prior to July 1, 2009, or licensed practitioner with surgical technologist employment evidence.
• Certification must be renewed every four years with 15 CEU credits annually. CPR certification required.

Experience

Healthcare experience preferred.

Other Qualifications

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Working knowledge of computer applications.
• Ability to lift 50 pounds independently, 100 pounds with shared lifting.
