Job summary

Virginia Urology's IR Centers at Virginia Urology in Henrico, VA is seeking a Surgical Technologist (IR Scrub Tech) to assist in preparing patients and rooms for interventional radiology procedures and maintain a sterile environment.

You will pass instruments during procedures, help with patient positioning and transfers, and coordinate with physicians to ensure efficient, safe interventions in an outpatient setting.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required.
• Valid BLS Certification required.
• 2 years of Surgical technologist / Scrub Tech experience required.
• ARRT / CST Certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepares patients and procedure rooms for radiology procedures.
• Reviews patient orders to determine materials and sets up/cleans rooms.
• Assists with patient prep, transfers, and positioning.
• Inputs patient data into the C-Arm and assists physicians during procedures, maintaining sterile technique.
• Complies with HIPAA, draws up and labels IV medications, and processes/archives x-ray images.
• Manages equipment maintenance, supply inventory, and hazardous waste disposal.
• May serve as Radiation Safety Officer and assist with accreditation surveys.
• Ensures effective communication with physicians.
• Assists with patient billing, verifying CPT and ICD9 codes.

As a Surgical Technologist (IR Scrub Tech), you will assist in preparing patients and procedure rooms for surgeries, ensuring all necessary supplies and equipment are ready. You will maintain a sterile environment, assist physicians during procedures by passing instruments, and help with patient positioning and transfers.

Qualifications

• High school diploma
• Valid BLS Certification
• 2 years of Surgical technologist / Scrub Tech experience
• ARRT // CST Certification (Preferred)

Working conditions

Employees may be exposed to infectious diseases. Must lift, push, and pull up to 50 pounds and assist in patient transfers up to 400 pounds. Standing in a protective apron for 60-90 minutes is required. Reasonable accommodations for disabilities are available.
