Job summary

The Mental Health Association of Rochester is seeking a Surgical Technologist to assist during operative and invasive procedures, preparing instruments, maintaining sterile fields, and ensuring equipment is ready for use.

In this role you will mentor peers and students, scrub on a variety of procedures, adapt to surgeon preferences, participate in on-call duties, and contribute to a positive, high-quality patient care environment.

Role Overview:

This surgical technologist provides direct and indirect patient care by assisting during operative and invasive procedures. They serve as a resource, mentor, and trainer for peers and students, functioning as an informal lead when needed. The role involves preparing for surgeries, maintaining sterile fields, and ensuring all instruments and equipment are ready and functional.

Responsibilities Include

• Preparing instruments, equipment, and supplies for surgeon-specific procedures
• Setting up sterile fields and assisting with case organization
• Scrubbing on a variety of procedures, including complex cases, and adapting to surgeon preferences
• Anticipating intra-operative needs and managing unexpected events confidently and calmly

Qualifications & Skills

• Associate's degree or Surgical Technology certificate
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 30 days
