Job summary

OSF HealthCare is hiring Surgical Technologists I and II to support operative procedures in a safe, sterile OR environment. You will assist surgeons, prepare instruments, and verify equipment readiness to maximize patient safety.

Roles require a Surgical Tech program or equivalent experience, CPR (BLS), and strong communication skills. This is an hourly on-site position with competitive total rewards and potential sign-on incentives.

Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma or GED; requires completion of a Surgical Tech program with ability to sit for certification OR 2 years minimum experience.
• Experience: Minimum 2 years in a Surgical Technologist/Technician role if not certified.
• Licensure/Certification: AHA CPR (BLS) certification.
• Other Skills/Knowledge: Strong communication, computer skills, attention to detail, and understanding of operating room procedures.

Responsibilities

• Assist surgeon under supervision to ensure safe, efficient operative procedures and maintain sterile environment.
• Ensure operating room equipment is properly functioning and available for procedures.
• Monitor patient conditions and communicate needs to the care team as required.

Expected Pay

• Surgical Technologist I: $27.26-38.48/hour
• Surgical Technologist II: $27.26-38.48/hour (with a 3% range adjustment)

This is an hourly position. Actual pay will be determined by experience, skills, and internal equity.

Overview

POSITION SUMMARY

The Surgical Tech works under the supervision and delegatory authority of a surgeon to facilitate the safe and effective conduct of invasive and non-invasive surgical procedures, ensuring that the operating room environment is safe, that equipment functions properly, and that the operative procedure is conducted under conditions that maximize patient safety. The surgical tech recognizes significant conditions and reactions of the patient and notifies the appropriate patient care team as necessary.

Qualifications

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Surgical Technologist I

• Education: High School Diploma or GED; requires completion of a Surgical Tech program with the ability to sit for certification OR 2 years minimum working in a Surgical Tech role.
• Experience: Minimum of 2 years in a Surgical Technologist/Technician role if completion of a Surgical tech program has not been completed.
• Licensure/Certification: American Heart Association CPR (BLS)
• Other Skills/Knowledge: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Solid computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft software. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to be detail oriented. Requires intra-operative orientation to learn department/unit policies, procedures and work routines; to develop competency in the use of medical equipment and instruments used in the procedure/operating room; to learn quality/safety standards; and to gain an understanding of the various types of surgical procedures within their service line.

Surgical Technologist II

• Education: High School Diploma or GED; requires completion of a Surgical Tech program and Surgical Technologist Certification with a minimum of 3 years working in a Surgical Tech role OR minimum 5 years working in a Surgical Tech role.
• Experience: Minimum of 3 years in Surgical Technologist role if certified. Minimum of 5 years in Surgical Technologist role if not certified.
• Licensure/Certification: American Heart Association CPR (BLS), Surgical Technologist Certification or 5 years or more in a Surgical Technologist role.

Preferred Qualifications
