Job summary

Saint John Hospital, Inc. in Leavenworth, KS is seeking a skilled Surgical Technologist (CST) for a Per Diem / PRN role. The department is Outpatient Surgery with 8-Hour shifts, Monday through Friday, 6:30 am to 3:00 pm, at Saint John Hospital—Leavenworth, KS.

You will set up instruments, maintain sterile technique, assist the surgeon, and ensure smooth operations in a fast-paced OR environment. Relevant BLS certification and OR experience are required or preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Current BLS certification upon hire and maintained.
• Experience in scrubbing or OR settings is a plus, with ORT training within 6 months or on-the-job training with 2 years of experience.

Responsibilities

• Set up surgical instruments, supplies, and equipment for procedures.
• Maintain a sterile environment and sterilize instruments before surgery.
• Pass instruments to the surgeon and assist with tasks.
• Count and manage sponges, needles, and instruments before and after procedures.
• Help position and drape patients for surgery.
• Communicate effectively with surgeons and nurses to ensure smooth operations.

• Set up surgical instruments, supplies, and equipment for procedures.
• Maintain a sterile environment and sterilize all instruments before surgery.
• Pass instruments and supplies to the surgeon and assist with various tasks.
• Count and manage sponges, needles, and instruments before and after procedures.
• Help position and drape patients appropriately for surgery.
• Communicate effectively with surgeons, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure smooth operations.

Qualifications

Before we go any further, we do have some deal-breakers . You must have:

• A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Current BLS (American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted) upon hire and maintained.

Additional Qualifications That Are a Plus:

• Experience in scrubbing minor and major procedures in various surgical specialties
• Graduation from an ORT training program within 6 months of hire or on-the-job training with a minimum of 2 years of experience in a surgical setting
