About this unit

The Corewell Health Butterworth OR department is a level 1 trauma center with twenty-one (21) operating rooms that operate 24/7, supporting surgical services related to IMRI and pediatric areas. The surgical team covers multiple specialties focusing on trauma, orthopedic trauma, acute care surgery, and neurological trauma. Our interdisciplinary team includes anesthesia providers, physicians, nurses, surgical technicians, and support staff, all offering a high level of expertise and patient care. We utilize advanced technology including DaVinci, Rosa, and Stealth robotic equipment, fostering a strong team environment with comprehensive technology for safe and efficient patient care.

Scope of work

The Surgical Technologist is responsible for preparing the surgical suite, handling instruments intraoperatively, maintaining the sterile field, and responding to changing conditions during procedures. They must maintain knowledge of surgical procedures and principles and may serve as a Preceptor.

Qualifications

• Associate's Degree in Surgical Technology or successful completion of an accredited Surgical Technology program.
• Surgical Technologist experience preferred (clinical rotations count).
• AHA or ARC Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within 90 days of hire.
