Job summary

SriMatrix health in Chicago, IL is seeking a Surgical Technologist to join our operating room team. You will scrub, pass instruments, and support neuro/spine, orthopedic, and other surgeries under a surgeon's guidance, ensuring aseptic technique and patient safety.

The role requires CST or diploma, CPR/BLS, and 1 year of Neuro/Ortho experience; associate degree preferred. This is a full-time position with competitive compensation and benefits.

Responsibilities

Shifts: 8‑hour shifts (Monday‑Friday, 7 AM‑3:30 PM)

Position Summary

We are seeking a dedicated Surgical Technologist to join our team, providing patient care that is second to none. The role involves assisting in neuro/spine, orthopedic, pain management, and other surgeries, ensuring that all procedures are performed safely and efficiently under the guidance of a surgeon. The technologist is an expert in aseptic techniques and plays a crucial role in patient safety and the effectiveness of surgical procedures. Candidates must be meticulous, patient‑focused, and able to function efficiently in high‑pressure environments, anticipating the needs of the surgeon and utilizing critical thinking skills to facilitate the best possible patient care.

Must‑Have Requirements
  • Certification or diploma in a Surgical Technology Program (Required)
  • Associate degree (Preferred)
  • Surgical Technologist Certification (CST) (Required)
  • Specialization in Orthopedic and Spine Surgeries (Preferred)
  • CPR Certification (Required)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification (Required)
  • 1 year of Neuro/Ortho surgical experience (Required)
  • 2‑3 years of Neuro/Ortho surgical experience (Preferred)
  • Surgical Scrub Tech Certification (Required)
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Assist in surgical procedures by performing scrubbing and supporting duties within the sterile field during operative procedures.
  • Anticipate the needs of the surgeon and staff, passing instruments and supplies efficiently.
  • Ensure proper care and maintenance of all surgical instruments and equipment according to established policies.
  • Apply principles of aseptic technique to maintain a sterile field and ensure patient safety.
  • Demonstrate thorough knowledge of surgical instruments, equipment, procedures, implants, and supplies used in the operating room.
  • Assist with patient draping and the setup of the sterile field.
  • Work closely with circulating nurses to perform instrument, sharp, and sponge counts before, during, and after surgery.
  • Assist with operating room turnover and cleaning between procedures, preparing the space for the next patient case.
  • Maintain composure and demonstrate patience, tact, stamina, and endurance in high‑pressure situations to deliver the highest level of patient care.
