Job summary

Adventist Health Columbia Gorge is seeking a Surgical Technician to assist the surgical team in the operating room and prepare sterile fields for procedures.

The role involves passing instruments, maintaining supplies, and supporting aseptic technique while working with RN staff. Strong certification and OR exposure are preferred for this position, located in the The Dalles area.

Qualifications

• Completion of an accredited surgical technology program is required.
• Surgical technician certification is required.
• CPR or BLS certification is required.
• HS/GED preferred; AS/Technical degree or equivalent preferred.
• Operating room experience or training preferred.
• CNA certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare for surgical cases by checking required supplies and equipment.
• Assemble appropriate supplies/equipment prior to operative procedures.
• Review equipment inventory for specialty as assigned.
• Set up operative instrumentation/sterile field for expedient retrieval/utilization.
• Collect data on assigned surgical cases by unit-based Performance Standards of Care.
• Clean equipment and facilities as necessary.
• Perform housekeeping duties as requested.
• Transport patients according to unit schedules and priorities.
• Provide clerical duties.
• Complete instrument, sponge, needle and blade counts with RN.
• Set up/maintain neat and orderly sterile field with aseptic technique.
• Label solutions according to standards.
• Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Education

Surgical technology program

Associate's/Technical Degree or equivalent

High School Education/GED - Preferred

Scrub technician experience - Preferred

Job Summary

Assists the surgical team in the preparation of surgical procedures in the operating room. Prepares surgical cases by creating and maintaining a sterile field, retracting and passing instruments, supplies and medications to surgeons during cases. Performs a variety of technical skills, including the maintenance of supplies. This position is represented by OFNHP.

Job Requirements

• High School Education/GED or equivalent: Preferred
• Accredited surgical technology program: Required
• Associate's/Technical Degree or equivalent combination of education/related experience: Preferred
• Scrub technician experience: Preferred
• Operating room experience and/or training course: Preferred

Licenses/Certifications

• Surgery Technician certification: Required
• Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification or Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from approved vendor per AH policy: Required
• Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification: Preferred

Facility Specific License/Certifications

• AHA-BLS or ARC-BLS or AHA-CPR or ARC-CPR: Required

Essential Functions
