Job summary

Qualifications

• Graduate of surgical technology program.
• Knowledge of medical terminology required.
• Familiarity with anatomy, physiology and asepsis.
• Current CPR/BLS certification required.
• Code Blue awareness preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist during surgical operations and procedures performed under a physician's direction.
• Work as part of a surgical team to ensure optimal operative conditions.
• Provide a safe environment for patients undergoing surgical or diagnostic procedures.
• Collaborate with physicians, surgical nursing staff and ancillary departments.
• Maintain flexible scheduling and demonstrate excellent customer service.

Location: Brookings, SD

Worker Type: Regular

Work Shift: Primarily days with possible weekends/evenings/holidays (United States of America)

Compensation range for this position is $21.96 to $32.51, depending on experience.

Incumbent will assist during surgical operations and with procedures done under a physician's direction. Works as part of a surgical team to ensure that the operative procedure is conducted under optimal conditions. Provides a safe environment for patients undergoing a surgical or diagnostic procedure. Incumbent will work closely with physicians, surgical nursing staff, and ancillary departments within the hospital to promote optimal patient outcomes. The Incumbent must possess effective communication skills, exhibit increased knowledge of disease processes, and display advanced critical thinking ability. Expectations include always providing excellent customer service and maintaining flexibility to meet a constantly changing work environment.

Requirements

• Graduate of surgical technology program
• Knowledge of medical terminology required.
• Knowledge and previous experience with anatomy, physiology, microbiology, surgical pharmacology, and principles of asepsis/sterile techniques required.
• Familiarity with resuscitation protocols and an understanding of the tech's role on a Code Blue required.
• Incumbent must possess an increased knowledge of anatomy.
• This position prefers, but does not require, specialty certification in the field of surgical technology.
• Current certification in CPR/BLS required.

Job Type: PRN Minimum commitment of 8 hours per month.
