Job summary

Brookings Health System in Brookings, SD seeks a Surgical Technologist for PRN coverage. Primary duties include assisting during surgical operations under a physician's direction and ensuring sterile, safe conditions throughout procedures.

Qualifications

• Graduate of a surgical technology program.
• Knowledge of medical terminology.
• Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, microbiology and sterile techniques.
• Familiarity with resuscitation protocols and Code Blue role.
• Specialty certification preferred, CPR/BLS required.

Location: Brookings, SD

Job Type: PRN, Minimum commitment of 8 hours per month.

Schedule: Primarily days with possible weekends, evenings, and holidays.

Compensation: $21.96 to $32.51 per hour, depending on experience.

Responsibilities

• Assist during surgical operations under a physician’s direction.
• Work as part of a surgical team to ensure that operative procedures are conducted under optimal conditions.
• Provide a safe environment for patients undergoing surgical or diagnostic procedures.
• Collaborate with physicians, surgical nursing staff, and ancillary departments to promote optimal patient outcomes.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Graduate of a surgical technology program.
• Knowledge of medical terminology.
• Knowledge and prior experience with anatomy, physiology, microbiology, surgical pharmacology, and principles of asepsis/sterile techniques.
• Familiarity with resuscitation protocols and understanding of the tech’s role during a Code Blue.
• Increased knowledge of anatomy.
• Specialty certification in surgical technology preferred (not required).
• Current certification in CPR/BLS required.
