We are seeking an experienced Surgical Technologist with orthopedic experience to join our Operating Room (OR) team. The Surgical Technologist will provide crucial support during surgeries, ensuring a sterile environment, preparing surgical instruments, and assisting the surgical team throughout procedures. This role requires a high level of expertise, attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment. The position includes call shifts twice a month and a 10-hour day shift schedule.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and maintain a sterile operating room before, during, and after surgeries, ensuring all necessary instruments, equipment, and supplies are ready and sterile.
- Assist the surgical team by passing instruments, sponges, and other supplies during procedures.
- Set up surgical equipment, including orthopedic tools and devices, ensuring they are functioning correctly.
- Monitor and handle surgical instruments and supplies, keeping track of items used during surgery to ensure nothing is left behind.
- Sterilize and organize surgical instruments according to hospital protocols.
- Assist in patient positioning and preparing the surgical site for procedures.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records in Meditech and ORM (Operating Room Management) systems.
- Collaborate with surgeons, nurses, and other operating room staff to ensure smooth operations and optimal patient care.
- Be prepared for on-call shifts and work with efficiency during high-pressure situations.
- Ensure compliance with infection control practices and safety standards at all times.
Education/Experience Required:- Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technologist program.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Surgical Technologist, with orthopedic experience required.
- Ability to work efficiently and prioritize tasks in a distracting environment.
- Strong organizational and planning skills, ensuring all instruments and supplies are accounted for.
- Proficiency in EMR systems such as Meditech and ORM.
- Ability to work at a quick pace while maintaining attention to detail.
Registration/Certification Requirements:- Certified Operating Room Technician (CORT) or equivalent certification (NBSTA required).
- BLS Certification (Basic Life Support).
- Experience with EMR systems (Meditech, ORM) required.
