Responsibilities
- Provides technical assistance to the surgeon intraoperatively by scrubbing, setting up, and maintaining a sterile field for surgical procedures; assembling instruments and equipment; preparing medications for use at the sterile field; and functioning as a member of the surgical team.
- Acts as an integral part of the medical practitioner team, providing surgical care to patients to facilitate safe and effective completion of invasive therapeutic and diagnostic procedures. Assists with instrumentation in vaginal deliveries, performs stocking duties, schedules procedures, and ensures departmental compliance with environment of care requirements.
- Utilizes and stays current on sterile and aseptic techniques, surgical procedures, implementation tools and technologies, and human anatomy. Collaborates and communicates effectively with the interdisciplinary team to facilitate physicians' performance of invasive and therapeutic procedures.

Qualifications
- Completion of an accredited Surgical Technologist program.
- Current registration with the State of Washington as a Surgical Technician.
- Working knowledge of anatomy and physiology; pharmacology and medical terminology; instrumentation and equipment; skill in establishing and maintaining a sterile field; skill in draping a patient.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Ability to act as a team member, anticipate the needs of surgeons and patients, and operate effectively in emergency and stressful situations.
- Willingness to take night and/or weekend call.
- Ability to independently lift up to 20 pounds.
- Manual dexterity to handle items frequently or continuously.
- Ability to maintain a retracted position for up to one hour.
- Good visual and auditory acuity to perform essential job functions.
- Extensive walking, sitting, standing, lifting, stretching, and bending, demonstrating good body mechanics.
- Ability to move equipment using a wheeled cart.
Ideal candidates will have experience with eye surgeries.
