Job Description

The Operating Room Surgical Technologist is responsible for performing scrub duties for patients requiring all surgical interventions, from simple to complex. They must be self-directed and capable of carrying out assignments with limited supervision. They are responsible for assessing the needs of each assigned patient and planning the necessary care in consultation with an RN. Once planned, they are responsible for implementing the care plan through their performance. The Surgical Technologist will also assist in on-the-job training and perform nursing care tasks to ensure a safe environment for the surgical patient. The patient population served ranges from neonate to geriatric, as defined in the unit-specific standards.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Graduate of an accredited school of Surgical Technology or at least two years of on-the-job surgical technologist experience.
• Certification in BCLS.
• Possession of a current CST certification is highly desirable.
• Minimum of two years' experience in a healthcare setting.
