Job summary

BJC Healthcare - Alton Memorial Hospital is hiring a Surgical Technician to join the operating room team. You will prepare OR, assist with procedures, and support sterile technique under RN supervision.

Schedule is 4/10 hour shifts from 0700-1730, Monday to Friday, with on-call and holiday coverage. A $12,500 sign-on bonus is offered to eligible candidates; benefits start first day of the month after hire.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED
• <2 years or military equivalent experience
• Surgical Technician certification/licensure

Responsibilities

• Prepares operating room for surgical patient, reviews preference cards to determine surgeon needs, obtains the necessary supplies and equipment for the procedure, ensures cleanliness of room, and assists with opening sterile supplies.
• Performs surgical scrub duties, and assists with the collection, identification, and disposition of cultures and specimens.
• Assists in turning over of room, and ensures supplies, instruments, and equipment are returned to proper location.

• Call -1-2 holidays/year(24 hour) and every 6-7th weekend (Sat 7am – Mon 7am); 45 min response time

***$12,500 Sign on Bonus***

Overview

Since 1937, Alton Memorial Hospital has cared for residents in Alton, Illinois, and the surrounding communities in a five-county area. Starting as a land gift to the community from the Smith family, Alton Memorial today is a full-service acute care hospital. Alton Memorial offers patients a variety of inpatient and outpatient services, including surgery services, medical imaging, interventional and diagnostic heart services, cancer care, rehabilitation, 24-hour emergency care, ambulance services and more.

The Operating Room is made up of 7 General rooms, one Cysto room, and one Minor procedure room. Staffed from 0700 till 1700 Monday-Friday with all other hours and days covered with a Call Crew.

Role Purpose

Performs surgical duties for operating room procedures under the direct supervision of a registered nurse.
