Job summary

Responsibilities include creating and maintaining a sterile field, inspecting items for contamination, anticipating equipment needs, and ensuring all tools function properly during procedures. The role requires 1 year of OR experience or training and BLS certification.

Qualifications

• One year experience in operating room as a Surgical Technician or Surgical Technician training required.
• Certification or eligible for certification preferred.
• American Heart Association or American Red Cross BLS certification required.

Responsibilities

• Create and maintain a sterile field.
• Inspects sterile items for contamination before opening.
• Anticipates the need for equipment and supplies before the case begins.
• Assures all equipment is functioning before use.
• Operates and maintains mechanical, electrical, and air powered equipment according to manufacturer's instructions.
• Scrub all surgical procedures and understand the special needs, techniques, and requirements of the individual surgeon.
• Ability to scrub specialty surgeries without the presence of a sales representative including sports medicine and trauma.
• Assists RN with completion of operative charge and recording of hardware used during procedure.
• Collects specimens and cultures by verifying source and correct tissue identification with surgeon.
