Job summary

UNC Health Appalachian is seeking a Surgical Technician to support surgical teams and ensure operating rooms are prepared for procedures in Boone, North Carolina. You will uphold sterile technique, assist surgeons, nurses, and anesthesia providers, and maintain a ready, organized OR environment throughout shifts.

The role requires a CST or two years of surgical tech experience, BLS at time of hire, and strong teamwork and communication skills to deliver safe patient care in a fast-paced setting.

Qualifications

• Associate’s Degree preferred
• Formal training or certification as a Surgical Technologist required

Responsibilities

• Prepare and maintain the operating room to ensure it is sterile and ready for procedures.
• Assist surgeons and nurses during procedures by passing instruments and necessary supplies.
• Maintain sterile technique throughout the surgical process to prevent contamination.
• Assist with positioning and draping patients prior to surgical procedures.
• Ensure surgical instruments and equipment are properly sterilized and organized.
• Participate in cleaning and sterilizing instruments following procedures.
• Work closely with surgeons, nurses, and other surgical team members to support patient care.
• Respond quickly and efficiently to requests from the surgical team during procedures.
