Job summary

The Surgical Technician position is based in the Operating Room within the Surgical Care Line at the Lebanon VA Medical Center, Lebanon, Pennsylvania. The purpose of this position is to be a member of the surgical team and provides assistance to the surgeon and other team members during surgical procedures.

To qualify, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date, 11/04/2026. GS-6 experience requires at least 1 full year of specialized experience equivalent to GS-5, including

Qualifications

• At least 1 full year of specialized experience equivalent to GS-5.
• Specialized experience includes applying knowledge of surgical technician duties, sterile field setup, aseptic techniques, instrument handling, and infection control.
• Minimum 3 years of Surgical Technician experience (preferred).
• Certified Surgical Technologist (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Provide assistance to the surgeon and surgical team during procedures.
• Prepare sterile fields and maintain aseptic techniques throughout surgeries.
• Handle medical instruments, supplies and equipment during procedures.
• Follow universal precautions and infection control policies.
• Rotate and manage sterile supplies.
